Agent Carter Season 3
OK, I would love to have seen an Agent Carter Season 3. So many story-lines to explore, the cliffhanger, what we know MUST happen in the future...
- Solving the mystery of the attempted assassination of Jack Thompson. He had a file marked “M. Carter” and serious war crimes. This is obviously not Peggy, but her brother Michael. He was some kind of secret agent\special forces for England at this time. He was supposedly killed, sending Peggy into her current career. However, the producers revealed that he’s not dead:
- “If memory serves, the initial thrust was going to come from the investigation into the assassination attempt on Jack Thompson,” Jose Moline said. “We were hoping (assuming we could afford it) that the story would then lead us to London, where we would learn that Carter’s late brother Michael was not only alive and kicking, but involved in some very nefarious, super-villainous shenanigans.” – COOL LINK
- Since we’re bringing up Michael, it’s time to talk about Peggy’s family. I would presume during his time “dead,” Michael had a secret family. How else would we get PEGGY’S GRAND NIECE SHARON CARTER. She had to come from somewhere and Peggy only had one sibling. Where’d she come from? Did Peggy raise Sharon’s mother or father upon the real death of Michael?
- Hayley Atwell said she wanted Peggy to explore the social issues of the day (and future) like civil rights, women’s rights and more. She also wanted to explore more of Peggy’s past while she’s investigating her brother in London.
- There’s also the follow ups from the previous season: Dottie the Black Widow, the mysterious key and the Council of 9.
- Perhaps most confusing is her love life in the coming years. It’s revealed in Agents of SHIELD that she did date Daniel Souza but the two broke up. The Winter Soldier showed Peggy had a family (and a husband who Cap saved during WWII). This is where time travel gets super confusing: who was Peggy’s original husband if Steve came back from the past in 1949? What about their kids? But perhaps that’s a question and answer best saved for Doomsday.
- The show can’t have Peggy uncover HYDRA, but perhaps there are clues and rogue bad guys running around. Agents of SHIELD dealt with a lot of this. Kree bodies and horrible HYDRA scientists are all over the place.
- Peggy’s friend Angie can go on to be a big-time actress with the help of Howard Stark. He is dabbling in film making at this time. Speaking of Howard Stark, he is a huge part of her life at this time, as is Edwin Jarvis. They continue to go on adventures. His big idea about his Malibu house and his factory with the first ARC Reactor would be key.
- From the Agent Carter One-Shot, Zodiac is an on-going issue at this time.
- The show could easily go to the 1950’s and the Korean War. Peggy, still an agent for the SSR (perhaps SHIELD by this time), could find out about an illegal experiment involving African- American soldiers getting injected with various super-soldier serums and seeing who survived. I would assume the gov’t named Bradley as a secret-ops Captain America, which certainly would have grabbed Agent Carter’s attention. Many of the experimental soldiers were captured behind enemy lines in Korea and Isiah Bradley went in to rescue them against orders. Sgt. James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes would start to be indoctrinated as the Winter Soldier at this time as well. Showing the fight between Bradley and Barnes in Korea would be awesome, with Bradley ripping half of Bucky’s metal arm off.
- The show could obviously go into the 1960’s and ‘70’s and deal with Hank Pym and his Pym Particles. We know Peggy becomes Director of SHIELD at some point: when Steve is looking at her behind glass, she talks about lighting strikes and Braddock and his men being stopped.
- Personally, I would have loved to see Peggy square off against the Dora Milaje with Wakandan Vibranium making their way to America (see the Eyes of Wakanda or more info). Mentioning Sokovia would be cool.
- And there's always Captain Carter....just joking.
